A warm welcome to Bardown Farm in Stonegate East Sussex - our traditional mixed working farm in the heart of the High Weald. It is a really beautiful location with panoramic views across an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Meander along our farm tracks through bluebell filled woods and rolling green fields and maybe you will see the deer or the buzzards overhead. Children can collect fresh eggs and help us bottle feed the lambs in the spring.
All the cottages are set within the farm, but as we don’t milk cows here work doesn’t start that early! The Roost, Crow Cottage and Ewe Cottage are all in an original Sussex barn with private patios and a shared south facing garden. Each cottage is 5 star, very well equipped and sleeps 4 but all three can be hired together along with our new cottage The Calf Shed to sleep a total of 16. There is plenty of space in the middle cottage "The Roost" for everybody to eat together and superb catering is available. All the cottages have masses of oak beams, vaulted ceilings and galleried landings with beautiful views through full length windows. Upstairs, each cottage has a double room with an en suite, a twin room and a family bathroom. Downstairs is open plan with bespoke oak kitchens, granite worktops, American fridge freezers and comfy leather sofas. In the summer barbecue on your own private terrace or relax in our beautifully warm outdoor pool. Our new 4th cottage, the Calf Shed, is an eighteenth century single-storey stone cottage set apart from the other cottages with its own private garden and adjacent parking . Not only is the cottage 5 star, but with completely level access, it has been thoughtfully designed with the less mobile in mind. Perfect for wheelchair users but also young toddlers as there aren’t any steps to trip over! Both bedrooms have en-suites and single beds that can be converted to King Size beds. Special features include a fully accessible kitchen with lowered hob and sink, only floor standing kitchen units and an accessible en-suite shower room with remote digital control, grab handles and raised toilet. Finally a pair of electric profiling beds ( also incorporating a carers bed) offer a limitless number of positions for the perfect nights sleep! We also have, free of charge, a selection of equipment available including a portable hoist, self propelled shower wheelchair and ordinary transit wheelchair.
If you can tear yourselves away, Bardown Farm makes a perfect base for exploring Kent and Sussex. There are numerous fantastic walks in the area with breathtaking views most of which end in a lovely country pub! Nearby are lots of National Trust properties including Bodiam Castle and Batemans and for keen gardeners, Sissinghurst, Pashley Manor and Great Dixter are a delight. For the more adventurous and within just 5 minutes drive there is canoeing, sailing, windsurfing and fishing on Bewl Water, top notch golf at Dale Hill and mountain biking trails and Go Ape at Bedgebury Just 19 miles away, the large sandy beaches at Camber are ideal for young children. Enjoy a day trip to London from our own station in Stonegate or alternatively take the ferry to France.

This is the middle cottage in the barn. It differs from the end cottages in that it has a larger kitchen. This can easily accommodate another table and chairs enabling 14 people to dine comfortably should all three cottages be hired together. Catering services are available for special occasions. There is an additional spare bed for a 5th person.

Crow cottage is an end cottage and has a spare bed for an extra 5th person. All 3 cottages are similar with exposed oak beams and beautiful bespoke oak kitchens with solid granite work areas. Large galleried landings overlook the ground floor of the cottages with views down the valley.

Ewe cottage is the other end cottage - a mirror image of Crow cottage. Likewise it has a spare bed for an extra 5th person and is decorated with the same high quality soft furnishings and window dressings throughout.
