Set in a quiet and secluded location, on a site that is believed to have been occupied since Saxton times, lies Thatch Close Cottages - three dog-friendly holiday cottages in Herefordshire. The property is within 12 acres with mature trees and hedges and wildlife in abundance including red kites, buzzards and owls. Here you can enjoy waking up to the sound of nature, not traffic!

The stylishly converted stone barns are beautifully equipped with underfloor heating and hardwood floors. Each bedroom has an en suite shower room. Each cottage contains a fully equipped kitchen, HD Smart TV, Freeview, free WiFi, Blu-ray player and a stereo system with iPod dock. 

Valley View is set on one floor and is accessible to M3, H2 and V1. 

Bramble’s Barn and Cider Cottages have fenced and walled patios perfect for relaxing on balmy days and dogs, who even get their own welcome pack.

The nearby Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty has evidence of human activity for over 12,000 years and became England’s first tourist destination. It started with boat trips in 1745, which are still available. Notable visitors included: Thackeray, Wordsworth, Turner and Nelson. Ideally located for quiet getaways to Symonds Yat and the Wye Valley, the Forrest of Dean, Tintern Abbey and the Marches Castles. Walking, canoeing, cycling, shooting, archery, climbing, forest trails and mountain biking, Go Ape and PGL are readily available.

You can join in more relaxing activities with a ride on a steam train, or try your hand at photography or basket-work. Enjoy river trips or watch cheese & cider making. Chepstow and Cheltenham Races are less than an hour away. There's also a traditional pet-friendly pub within walking distance.

Meet the owner

Edward & Marian Drzymalski

Marian and Edward were VSO's (Voluntary Service Overseas) and then teachers, moving to Thatch Close in 1980. Six years were spent in converting the barns, which were completed in 2015 so everyone, including the less able, could share in the idyllic surroundings. Over the years we have extended and improved the garden, planted trees, re-laid hedges and brought the pond back to life. We share our home with Bella our dog and Zippy the African Grey Parrot.
