Beautiful 3 bed thatched barn conversion

Restored and converted to the highest standards of comfort and utility, this listed and historic farm barn provides a unique base for a rural Devon holiday. The Tithe Barn lies privately within a medieval farmyard on the beautiful and wild South-East side of Dartmoor, yet is only a short walk away from bustling Ashburton. Here you can find all your daily needs of local food and drink, browse unique art and craft shops, explore numerous antique outlets, or just admire the amazingly diverse architecture.

The Tithe Barn comprises three large en suite bedrooms, one of which is on the ground floor and is wheelchair accessible. The largest area of the ground floor is a bright and comfortable open plan lounge, dining area and well equipped kitchen, allowing all the visitors to interact whilst the meals are being prepared. In addition, there is a separate utility and drying room at the rear of the property, and a useful ground floor washroom with WC.

This cottage provides a great base for exploring Devon. If you like walking or riding, Dartmoor open moorland paths are just a short drive (or long walk) up the hill. Nearby is the wooded Dart valley with amazing riverside walks to discover. Drives of around 45 minutes will take you to South Devon's beautiful coastline with world-class beaches, rocky headlands, and extensive coastal paths. Drive to the North coast and you will find a different landscape...wide surfing beaches, and impressive cliffs overlooking the wild Atlantic Ocean. And everywhere...historic places to explore.

Meet the owner

George & Rosie Pagliero

George and Rosie moved to Higher Headborough Farm at the beginning of 2022 with their two small children, Paddy and Nessie. After years of living in cities and travelling the world, they have taken their foot off the gas and returned to their Westcountry roots. With varying degrees of success they like to grow fruit and vegetables in the gardens; bake scrumptious sourdough loaves; prepare jams and chutneys; hand-make sausages and slow cook on the BBQ. If your timing is good, some of these treats may well end up on your table too.
