Family Fun in Staffordshire

Staffordshire, in the heart of England, seems to have more than its fair share of family entertainment on offer all year round. That makes it the perfect destination for a break, whether that’s the Easter holidays or the autumn half term. With luxury cottages available across the county, you’re never far from all the action, no matter what age your children or their interests. Here are a few of the best for family fun in Staffordshire.

Alton Towers

Drive through Staffordshire and you can’t miss the signs pointing you towards one of the largest theme parks in the country. With attractions that will appeal to the little ones (with the new CBeebies World for tots now open) right up to teenage-strop-proof rides, Alton Towers is at the top of many family’s attractions list.

Drayton Manor Theme Park

Not content with the one theme park, Staffordshire has a second experience to offer families too. Drayton Manor Theme Park may not be quite as big as Alton Towers, but the crowds are also proportionally smaller, which in turn reduces the waiting times to get on to rides and into attractions. With Thomas World the perfect day out for Thomas the Tank Engine lovers, and the world’s first stand-up rollercoaster for braver souls, this is a fun day out for the whole family.

Monkeying Around

Monkey Forest in Trentham is a unique experience and ideal for families who have a real passion for primates. Here you can wander through a forest and encounter Barbary macaques as they roam freely in 60 acres of beautiful gardens and woodland. Educational and fun, it’s a great day out for your little monkeys.

National Forest Adventure Farm

Staffordshire has several adventure farms where visitors can get close up and personal with farmyard animals, learn about our countryside in a safe environment, and have plenty of creative fun too. The National Forest Adventure Farm in Burton Upon Trent has all the usual suspects, and a few more exotic ones too such as alpacas, chipmunks and reindeer. There are also lots of games, adventures and play areas for all ages.

Get Your Skis On

If you can’t wait for the winter then head to Tamworth’s Snowdome for some indoor ski fun. The 170m ski run lets skiers and snowboarders of all abilities have some fun, even if the sun is shining outside. And if you prefer to get your skates on instead of your skis then the dome also has a rink that anyone over the age of three can use.
