Family Fun at Christmas in Worcestershire is easy to find. Worcestershire is one of those counties that keeps you coming back year after year. Its stunning countryside, gentle hills and rural idyll also makes it a perfect getaway for a tranquil family Christmas. Make a change this year and instead of staying at home during the festive season, book a luxury holiday cottage in Worcestershire for a wonderful change of scenery. And if you’ve got the kids with you, then here are a selection of fun things to do around Yule that the little ones will love:
Worcester Victorian Christmas Fayre
Kids love dressing up – and so do adults! Get a real Dickensian start to your Christmas festivities with this hugely popular event, held every year in the county town. From the 27th – 30th November over 150 stalls set out their wares, making it a great opportunity for kids and adults alike to stock up on Christmas presents with a difference. Carol singers serenade the fair goers, and there really are chestnuts roasting on an open fire!
Wychbold Christmas Grotto
It’s time to see who’s been naughty or nice at the annual Wychbold Christmas Grotto, a great treat for younger children. Animated elves beaver away in a workshop, and children can go on to meet Santa and then choose a special gift – an experience all little ones should have at least once.
The Christmas Ice Rink at Wychbold
An afternoon at an ice rink is as Christmassy as mince pies and tinsel. The Christmas Ice Rink at Wychbold is an annual event that attracts visitors from all over the county. The 45-minute session includes ice skates, and the rink is in action from 22nd November through to the 4th January (with a short break for Christmas Day).
A Festive Train Ride at Evesham Country Park
Combine a visit to Santa’s Grotto with a train ride through a winter wonderland at Evesham Country Park. There’s a chance to create a piece of art to adorn Santa’s office, and he rewards the little ones by reading them a magical Christmas story. That’s followed by a train ride to see if you can find Santa’s lost presents. This is a hugely popular event so booking is strongly advised. The rides run from 22nd November to 24th December.
Beauty and the Beast Pantomime
It’s behind you! Actually, it’s at The Moors in Worcester, and this year’s fun pantomime is the eternal tale of Beauty and the Beast. A great family afternoon out and bags of fun for children of all ages. It’s a one-off performance on 1st December, so booking is advised. However, throughout the season there are lots of other pantomimes and Christmas performances in and around Worcester.
Tree Dressing at Gheluvelt Park
As part of National Tree Dressing Week, the trees at Gheluvelt Park are set to be adorned in festive baubles and bells this year. This is a great opportunity to get out in the fresh air, as well as introducing kids to tree conservation in a fun environment. The event takes place on the 5th December.
