The Royal Norfolk Show Chapelfield, 1st – 2nd July The county show kicks the summer months off in style, showcasing everything that’s special about this part of the country. From mouthwatering food and drink through to the agriculture and crafts of the region, the Royal Norfolk Show is a great day out for everyone.
Lord Mayor’s Celebrations
Norwich, 2nd – 5th July Four days of entertainment, fun and fireworks, with dancing and music from all around the world. It’s a great opportunity to explore this ancient city, and perhaps even fit in a ghost tour on the evening of the 2nd for a bit of extra local colour.
Swallows & Amazons Adventure Day at The Canoe Man Norwich, July 5th and 19th August Explore the Broads in a canoe in this fun day out for the whole family. Included in the day are bushcraft lessons and archery, as well as a guided tour on the waterways of the Broads. A wonderful and unique experience.
Blossom and Yarn festival at St Martin's Church, Thompson Various locations, 10th – 13th July This quirky little festival is a real treat. A celebration of flowers and knitting, the festival is actually spread over several locations in and around the village of Thompson. It takes visitors off the usual tourist track and is a great way to discover the real Norfolk.
World Snail Racing Championships Congham Village near Kings Lynn, 18th July Nobody does slightly mad summer events like the British, and this is one of the very best. In fact, this event is internationally important, and competition is fierce – if somewhat sedate. A great day out if you’ve got little ones with you.
Summer Fireworks Great Yarmouth Central Beach, from 15th July Every Wednesday evening for seven weeks the skies above Great Yarmouth will be lit up in spectacular style with stunning firework displays. The evening kicks off at 8pm with free entertainment and music. Fireworks start at 10pm.
Walled Gardens Discovery Day Holkham Hall, Wells-next-the-Sea, 3rd, 10th, 17th and 21st August The stunning Holkham Hall is one of Norfolk’s gems, and its walled gardens are a delight, especially in the summer. Find out all about these unique gardens on guided walks and discover the wildlife that lives here.
North Norfolk Music Festival All Saints Church, Wrighton, 11th – 22nd August Two weeks of concerts by internationally renowned chamber orchestras brings some delightful music to this ancient setting. Over the two weeks the concerts showcase established artists and emerging new talent.
Dragonflies & Damselflies NWT Cley Marshes, 23rd July and 20th August Norfolk is a haven for wildlife lovers and throughout the summer you can go on walks, tours and guided days out to find out more about the creatures that live here. The dragonflies and Damselflies events at one of the county’s premier reserves introduces you to these jewelled beauties.
Forest Night Adventure Fairhaven Woodland and Water Garden, 29th August You may be familiar with Norfolk by day; now this is your chance to discover its secrets at night. This enchanting woodland walk introduces you to astronomy, the creatures of the night and a little night-time magic as well.
