Looking for somewhere truly ‘different’? Find it here Located near the charming towns of Halesworth and Southwold, the five gorgeously converted former farm buildings at Belle Grove burst with character and comfort. An ‘East meets West’ twist is provided by carefully chosen antiques, textiles and objects and are superbly appointed, . Each property has a private walled garden with walks to be enjoyed around the grounds and plenty of public footpaths in the vicinity. Although there are five properties of varying sizes, their respective access has been laid out with privacy in mind - guests often remark that they’ve “not been aware of anyone else on site”! There’s plentiful parking and open access to the grounds whether for walking, exploring or playing games – or enjoying a glass of wine in the shepherds hut, lighting its stove if chilly or stargazing with the telescope provided. ALL properties have quality crockery, cutlery & glassware, underfloor heating, wood-burning stoves, range cookers, chilled water-dispensing fridges, Bose music systems, modern TV’s, WiFi, drench showers, super-comfy beds, bathrobes and the very best bed linen. Belle Grove enjoys a great location: rural but only 2 miles from the local market town with all facilities and barely 8 miles from the Suffolk Heritage Coast. A beach hut in nearby Southwold is available between April and October. Guests also enjoy rummaging in the ‘Emporium’ on site. The welcoming and relaxed ambience makes Belle Grove ideal for those searching for that extra special break. The location is rural but conveniently close to amenities: breakfast to the sound of birdsong while spotting nesting mallards or grazing muntjac deer, browse local Farmer’s Markets and the excellent independent shops in the locality, take a walk along the beautiful Suffolk shore, buy fresh fish off the boats and return to enjoy an al fresco supper, with luck spotting the resident barn owl swooping over the dusk-laden fields. Eco-friendly features include rainwater harvesting and solar-heated water. Pictures speak louder than words – do visit our extensive website for lots more photographs as well as further information: price list - things to do - places to see.
We, Jo & Nick, live on site so are on hand to help as necessary. We are very relaxed about arrivals - just roll up at any time after 3pm or earlier by arrangement - you’ll have detailed directions so simply open the unlocked door and walk in, the keys inside. All will be ready with lights and heating on etc so you’ll have time to settle in / identify any queries before Jo calls round to say hello.
Our own backgrounds are mixed to say the least: farmer, designer, builder, lawyer, trans-africa tour operators and author - not to mention becoming accommodation providers on converting redundant barns to holiday lets a few years ago.
In 2012, our self-build farmhouse, right on site, was named Overall Winner of the Daily Telegraph Home Building Awards. Read about the creation of Belle Grove including house and barns in Jo's most recent book 'Beyond Dragons: an architectural romance' (more details on website).
