Tranquil, luxurious, cosy country cottages

Church Farm Cottage and the Ancestral Barn are situated on an organic farm in one of the most peaceful and tranquil settings in the heart of the Peak District National Park. With stunning scenery in all directions and beautiful walks from the door to the Dovedale and Manifold Valleys, they provide the perfect base to explore the great outdoors.

The 2 Gold award winning cottages are nestled in Stanshope, a small farming hamlet overlooking the magnificent Hall Dale. Lovingly restored, our Dovedale Cottages are Grade II listed and have a cosy 'Country Living' feel, providing the ideal accommodation for guests to get away from the demands of modern living (but ultrafast broadband is provided if you need it).

Both the Ancestral Barn (sleeps 6) and Church Farm Cottage (sleeps 4) ooze charm and character with antique furniture, beamed ceiling, polished floors and luxurious furnishings. Canopied beds, pocket sprung mattresses and Egyptian cotton bedding provide the very essence of comfort and relaxation. The well equipped kitchens make cooking a pleasure and the comfortable living rooms are the perfect place unwind in front of a roaring open fire.

Stanshope is situated at the top of Hall Dale which leads into Dovedale. It is approximately 8 miles from the market town of Ashbourne and is a paradise for walkers, cyclists and lovers of other outdoor activities. There are many pretty Peak District villages to explore, well-dressings, farmers markets, fairs, caverns, museums and famous country houses (Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and many more) to visit. You really will be spoilt for choice when you come and stay.

Meet the owner

Susan Franks

Church Farm has been a farm as far as we know since the 16th century and has been in our family for over 60 years. We took over the farmhouse and cottages about 10 years ago when we moved here with our daughter, our Red and White Irish Setter and our 3 cats. We love living in the countryside and take every opportunity to enjoy the walks from the door, the local country pubs and all that the Peak District has to offer. Over the years, we have gradually updated the interiors of the cottages, adding to the antique furnishings and giving them a more modern, cosy and luxurious feel, whilst maintaining all the character and charm of the Grade II listed buildings. We feel it is a real privilege to be living in such a wonderful area and love welcoming our guests so can they share it with us.
