About & Contact

17th Century, crooked beams, fires & stone stairs

The Manor, situated at the end of the driveway and surrounded by its own secluded garden, boasts the title of being the grandest and most exquisite among all the cottages in our exclusive hamlet. Complete with a luxurious hot tub, it offers a truly unparalleled experience.

Dressed for Christmas with real Christmas trees this is a characterful 17th Century country manor with stunning rural views from every window. The stone spiral stairs leads to an original oak floored landing from where, on each side, a door leads to an en suite bedroom with king-size beds. The master bathroom has a bath with power shower over and the other a freestanding oval bath and separate shower cubicle. Stairs from this landing are French Polished English Oak, leading to the original loft, with two bedrooms one twin bed and the other king-size bed. The shared power shower room between each room. Snuggle down beneath the beautiful 17th Century oak timber rafters.

The large open plan sitting room and 23' long kitchen/diner has a stone inglenook with massive beam, Scandinavian glass fronted Jotul log burner, Derbyshire church pew, flagstone floor and bespoke handmade units with a long peninsular with bespoke handmade units. A long peninsular with burgundy coloured slate inset for hot items or chopping. The traditional farmhouse Aga enlivens the heart of the house, don’t worry if you haven’t used an Aga before, there is a ceramic hob and combination: oven, grill and microwave. There is also a dishwasher, larder fridge, separate freezer and washer/dryer. At the opposite end to the kitchen a solid oak dining table seats 10. At the far end of the kitchen a door to rear lobby and downstairs cloakroom. The large sitting room/ conservatory (34' long end to end) with stone inglenook half tree over and glass fronted Jotul log burner within has sofas and armchairs for all. The TV includes Sky with cinema and sports channels. At the far end the double glass door lead to a garden room with chairs, settee and panoramic country views.

Outdoors there is a heated games room, chickens to feed with egg collection, woodland walks and tree swings to find and test. Access forest tracks on foot or cycling from your cottage door.

We have a Free Rolec Electric Vehicle Charging Point. This is Type 2, 32amp, 7.2Kw compatible with all mode 3 vehicles Nissan Leaf, BMWi, Mitsubishi Outlander, Mercedes models and many many more.

We allow pets in this property by prior arrangement - please call or email to discuss. Stroll a short way up to our tree dining platform with spectacular views across the valley. A lovely picnic spot for surprise proposals, birthdays and celebrations of all kinds!

There is an onsite games room and children's play area. Thrill seeking children can swing over the sloping hillside with the long roped swing - glorious fund to be had. See our website for pre-school and kids's activities available locally.

Reviews for The Manor at Forest Barns

Meet the owner

Lynda Norman

Geoff and I feel privileged to call Sutton Baynham Farm home for 29 years. A special spot in the Forest of Dean - surrounded by rolling hills clad in woodland. Working in the business day to day you’ll probably have spoken with me when booking – we manage a small team to strive to create a truly wonderful holiday experience for you. From farming stock, with 5 grandchildren we feel strongly about protecting the planet and this beautiful area. We’ve installed as much as we can to reduce both guests’ and our carbon footprint. Investing in eco-initiatives: • Electric vehicle charging point • 200 Kwh biomass boiler using local woodchip – heating cottages (24/7), hot water and hot, hot tub water too • Water harvesting – most wc’s flushed with harvested water and all laundry serviced in-house with harvested rain water - 400 thread count bed linen really lovely and soft to sleep in • Heat pump tumble dryers for laundry • Recycling area • Containers for composted and food waste for our chickens which returns as eggs for us all to enjoy! • LED lighting
