300 year old, luxury stone cottages

Tyn Y Coed cottage is a recently refurbished 300 year old secluded stone cottage which has retained many of its original features. Built of Welsh stone, the cottage features exposed wooden beams, inglenook fire places, a large woodburning stove, range cooker and external all weather hot tub. Trip Advisor excellence award for 2018.

Tyn Y Coed cottage offers exceptional and rare original character and charm whilst providing many of lifes modern essentials. Situated in the Brecon Beacons National Park the cottage sits in its own grounds and is surrounded by mature woodland and lush green fields which provide the ultimate retreat for tranquillity and relaxation. Sit and relax in the gardens and all you will hear are the songs of many birds and the trickle of water from the garden brook.

You will find a welcome hamper on arrival and plentiful logs to burn in the log burner. Your nearest neighbour is over 1.7 miles away so seclusion is guaranteed, and yet just 2 miles away you will find local shops, pubs and other amenities.

Children can play on the rope swing, run free in the gardens or go exploring the surrounding fields. Tyn Y Coed cottage is very well equipped for your stay and has a large LCD TV in the living room with a full Sky package including sports and movies and a comprehensive DVD and book collection for your use.

All 3 bedrooms have TV/DVD players and WiFi is free and available in every room. There is a large collection of games which include many family favourites and plenty of toys for children to play with, inside and out.

The surrounding area is absolutely abundant with activities, natural & historic places to visit. The Brecon Beacons are tremendous walking areas and are vast. They include the highest point in Southern Britain - Pen Y Fan mountain - as well as other famous peaks, lakes, waterfalls and historic land marks.

The cottage guest information book is very comprehensive and lists dozens of great days out from Kayaking and climbing to canal boat trips and Pike fishing. There are castles, caves, Military museums, pubs, restaurants, waterfalls and stargazing is one of the best in the world in the Beacons as there is no light pollution.

The cottage is the ultimate base camp for an adventure in the Brecon Beacons as well as being the ultimate luxurious tranquil retreat to unwind in and simply chill out.

Coachingmans is a 330 year old cosy cottage. This liitle gem has been fully refurbished and equiped with modern lifes essentials whilst keeping its charm and charecter as a coachingmans cottage. The cottage sleeps 4 in the most luxurious beds. Both bedrooms have TV/DVD players and oak bedroom furniture. The living room is cosy and spacious with luxurious sofas and a log burner with plentiful logs. There is a large TV with full Sky package including sports and movies and WiFi is a guaranteed 30 Meg speed. In the dining area we have provided an abundance of DVDs, books, family board games, etc. etc. so that family time together can be enjoyed on those cosy evenings in.

25 yards away is the Castlecoaching Inn. An old Inn that serves fabulous home-cooked food and has a bar serving all the beers and wines you'd expect.

The surrounding area is superb. There are just so many places on the doorstep to explore ... from the antique center 500 yards away to the Usk forest and lake 3 miles away. The guest information book / website has a comprehensive list of places to go and things to do. Cycling routes, walking routes, kayaking, climbing centre, star gazing, Red Kite feeding centre and so much more.

Meet the owner

Lisa Pengelly

Hi everyone our names are Lisa & Andrew. My partner Andrew and I fell in love with Tyn Y Coed Cottage the moment we saw it. We spent a year renovating and restoring the cottage to its current standard and enjoyed every minute of it. We intend living here one day when the time is right but in the mean time we want you guys to enjoy this unique place and its fabulous surroundings. We have 2 small children who simply love it here as much as we do and every time we visit it is a blow to have to leave. We hope you feel the same. We will personally deal with your stay from start to finish, any booking requests you can call me directly on my mobile and I will be happy to help.
