About & Contact

Luxury 300 year old Welsh stone cottage

Proudly situated in the welcoming sleepy hamlet of Trecastle, is the sublime Coachingmans Cottage.

This wonderful peaceful 300-year-old Welsh stone cottage sits proudly in the Western area of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Refurbished to 5 Star quality, this historic little cottage retains all its genuine character and charm whilst providing modern life’s essentials and luxuries. With superb surroundings, Coachingmans Cottage sleeps four, welcomes dogs, and is only 25 yards away from the Castle Coaching Inn. Upon arrival, you’ll find a welcome hamper on the oak dining table, with local Welsh cheese, wine and Welsh cakes.

The homely living area boasts exposed oak beams and the most comfortable settees to welcome you to this cosy cottage. Unwind in front of the log burner with your favourite book in hand, or relax with a film from a large collection of movies. The oak dressers and bookshelves offer a wide range of family favourite board games, jigsaws and toys to keep the little ones happy for hours on rainy days. Additionally, the smart TV with over 200 Sky channels and Blu-ray DVD player are enough to entertain the family after a day out exploring the breathtaking local area. Logs for the log burner are plentiful to assure you of nothing but a tranquil stay.

The kitchen is extremely well equipped with all the cooking pots, utensils and crockery you could need. As there is no mains gas, an electric ceramic hob and modern timer/fan oven are used for cooking. There is also a modern dishwasher, washing machine and large fridge/freezer available for your use.

The master bedroom is kitted out with oak furniture and the most luxurious king-size bed and deluxe bedding. A second bedroom also offers stunning oak furniture and lavish beds for the ultimate relaxation. Upon booking, you can specify between a super king-size bed or 2 luxury singles. Drift off to sleep as you lay back and admire the original oak beams, a key feature in both rooms, or watch one of your favourite programmes on the 40-inch wall-mounted TVs.

The bathroom contains a bath with an overhead rainwater shower, and the roof window treats you to stunning views over the nearby hills and mountains. To top it off, there is a small, pleasant west facing garden off the kitchen.

Guests love to sit and listen to the many different bird songs in this garden, whilst watching the colourful sunsets over the nearby hills. Table and chairs are provided for your use, as is a barbecue with all the relevant utensils.

Meet the owner

Lisa Pengelly

Hi everyone our names are Lisa & Andrew. My partner Andrew and I fell in love with Tyn Y Coed Cottage the moment we saw it. We spent a year renovating and restoring the cottage to its current standard and enjoyed every minute of it. We intend living here one day when the time is right but in the mean time we want you guys to enjoy this unique place and its fabulous surroundings. We have 2 small children who simply love it here as much as we do and every time we visit it is a blow to have to leave. We hope you feel the same. We will personally deal with your stay from start to finish, any booking requests you can call me directly on my mobile and I will be happy to help.
