Yorkshire

COTTAGES IN YORKSHIRE

The largest county in England, Yorkshire has plenty to offer every type of visitor. From the rugged expanses of the Yorkshire Dales and the twisting labyrinth of streets in York to the superb, unspoilt beaches of Scarborough, a visit to Yorkshire allows you to make your break just what you want it to be. You’ll also discover that there’s much more to the local cuisine than just pie and mash, as Yorkshire is home to some of the best restaurants in the country.

Explore York

A visit to Yorkshire isn’t complete without a visit to the city of York. This ancient, compact city is a meandering maze of streets and passages with a surprise around every corner. You can explore the boutique shopping on offer in The Shambles or take a stroll down the UK’s narrowest street, Wipmawopmagate, or brave the stairs in York Minster and gain an unparalleled view of the city and the surrounding countryside.

Wild and Wonderful Scenery

Those who enjoy the Great Outdoors are spoilt for choice as there’s an abundance of wild and wonderful scenery in Yorkshire. The North Yorkshire Moors National Park is breathtaking in its sheer size and offers plenty of opportunities for those who enjoy walking, cycling and horse-riding. However, it’s also home to some sites of historic interest, including prehistoric settlements and crumbling abbeys.

Gastronomic Yorkshire

When it comes to food, Yorkshire is cementing its position as a serious gastronomic contender. It has six Michelin-starred restaurants – the most of any county in England. If you feel like treating your taste-buds then The Box Tree in Ilkley serves contemporary French cuisine. For something equally delicious but a little less formal, visit the Black Swan pub in Oldstead.
