About & Contact

One mile from Sidmouth's Jurassic Coastline

Named after R.W. Sampson who was responsible for most of the architectural layout of early 20th century Sidmouth, Sampson cottage was a former store and stables. The vaulted ceilings in the open plan living areas with the original steel beam help to form this dog-friendly modern, bright and stylishly furnished cottage.

Living: modern, spacious and pleasingly decorated open plan living area with vaulted ceiling and ‘Amtico’ flooring, Smeg gas flame fire, fast WiFi Internet access, LG LED 43” 4K Smart TV and a Blu-ray DVD player.

Kitchen: fully equipped high spec integrated kitchen units with dishwasher, washer/dryer, gas hob & oven, full size fridge/freezer, microwave, Nespresso coffee machine and milk frother, toaster, utensils, etc.

Sleeping: bedroom one has a king-size Silent Night 1500 spring pocket memory foam layered mattress, Fogarty quilt & Dreamloft pillows offering a restful night’s sleep. On request, bedroom two with its zip-link king bed can be made up as a twin. Both bedrooms are fitted with a 22” TV, Velux Integra remote control roof windows with integrated blackout blind and rain sensor.

Bathroom: a Jasper Morrison designed suite, a Kaldewi steel bath with wall mounted taps, heated towel rail, ceiling mounted shower, Amtico flooring and ceiling integrated DAB sound system. Velux Integra remote control roof windows with integrated blackout blind and rain sensor.

Patio and Garden: French doors opening out onto Sampson’s own spaciously appointed private and enclosed pretty patio and garden with a patio table/parasol and 4 cushioned chairs. A cosy gazebo and exterior lighting create a beautiful and romantic ambience, making this space a pleasant relaxing addition to the accommodation. Gas barbecue is available upon request.

Reviews for Sampson at Bulverton House

Meet the owner

Chris Bourton

Our ambition to own a holiday let business was born from 20 years of working overseas in Shanghai, Vietnam, Malaysia and Singapore. During our holidays, we travelled extensively and had the fortunate opportunity to stay in fabulous bespoke holiday complexes around the world, including Devon. As a result, we grew a strong passion to return to the UK to run our own holiday cottage business and share with our guests what we came to love and cherish when living away from home. While living overseas, Chris ran multi-site global manufacturing operations. Ellen who originates from Singapore was a primary school teacher. Our son, Alistair and his dog Popcorn love their new home in Sidmouth. In October 2022 we proudly became owners of Bulverton House Holiday Cottages. It is now our vision to ensure that our guests have a fabulous Devon holiday, with memories to last forever.
