The upper part of the garden

Two perfect properties for the ideal break

You are assured a warm welcome here at Hall Farm. We aim to combine first class modern comfort with the warmth and history of an ancient stone farmhouse set in the heart of an attractive rural village. All our accommodation embraces the chance to make our guest spaces beautiful with original artwork, warm furnishings bespoke furniture and considered lighting. We believe this attention to detail helps ensure a relaxing and memorable stay.

In addition, each property has a no-holes-barred attitude towards comfort. We have pocket sprung mattresses with super king-size beds, quality linen and feather and down duvets to ensure a good night’s sleep. There are decent showers to refresh you and soft, thick towels to wrap up in.

The living rooms are equipped with smart TVs with Netflix plus lots of seating space and WiFi included. The kitchens are fully equipped with all mod cons and lovely China and when you arrive there are flowers and a welcome pack to settle you in. Add to this a stroll across the courtyard to choose a free home-made ice cream and your holiday has really begun!

Our accommodation at Hall Farm includes The Stables and The Hayloft which have been sympathetically renovated to provide first class accommodation with original features and luxury fittings. The properties are in a quiet location at the centre of Kings Cliffe opposite the village church. These two properties lead into a two acre garden with views across the fields and down to the river. Here you will find an abundance of wildlife, allowing for bird watching, foraging and the discovery of a family of otters.

A wood-fired hot tub is available for the exclusive use of Hayloft guests.

Please note: there are some low walls with drops of up to 1m on the other side which could be hazardous to young children. Therefore, we ask that children staying be under 1 or over 12.

For those wanting to explore the village, there are a good range of local amenities, including a small supermarket, bakery, greengrocers, cafe, Brewery Studios, playground and pub.

Activities

Hall Farm has a web of unspoilt footpaths and bike trails from its door that pass through rolling fields, quiet lanes, the old railway line and Rockingham Forest. These routes are easy and scenic and can be tailored for either the highly active or those wanting a more leisurely time.

For guests staying at Hall Farm (The Stables and The Hayloft), you can also borrow one of our bikes to see more of the area at your own pace. There are plenty of cafes in easy reach. There is New Lodge Farm, Bulwick, Grounds Café at Fineshade, Spokes at Harringworth and Elsies Vintage Tea Room in Nassington all within 3-6km.

We have a strong tradition of artists and crafts people living in and around Kings Cliffe. Several of them have national reputations such as woodcarver Glyn Mould or basket weaver Sue Kirk. Both run courses for beginners or the more experienced and welcome new faces.

If you enjoy visiting historic places there is Burghley House at Stamford; Rockingham Castle, Deene Hall and Kirby Hall near Corby; Peterborough Cathedral and Museum in Peterborough’s centre and Cambridge with its colleges, art galleries and museums only a 40 minute drive away.

Should you want more from the outdoors then Rutland Water with all its facilities is a seriously good playground for all ages. It is only 10 miles away from us and has so much to offer. If you like water sports there is plenty of sailing, wind surfing or paddle boarding. There are rental bikes, a butterfly park, open water swimming with a sand beach. You can discover the Anglian Water Birdwatching Centre at Egleton, or enjoy fine dining at the famous Hambleton Hall Hotel and the Finches Arms.

If you have been taken in by the beauty of Kings Cliffe and would like to see more like this, there are several charming market towns nearby, including Stamford, Oundle, Oakham and Uppingham with farmers markets and bustling communities. Stamford is particularly well known, with a plethora of pubs, restaurants, shops and antiques and The George Hotel, a local landmark, ideal for drinks in the garden or a special dinner in the heated courtyard.

Meet the owner

Sarah Winfrey

We have lived at Hall Farm for over seventeen years and returned here with a young family after living in Australia for a short period. Geoff was working in the water industry and Sarah was doing a fine art scholarship. Since coming back and while the family has been growing up, we have spent an enormous amount of time and energy renovating and developing the property to what it is today. Our first guests came in 2006 when we started with one bed and breakfast room. Now there are three self-catering properties and looking back it has been quite a journey! We feel very lucky to have been part of this amazing place’s history and hope that our guests will get real pleasure staying here.
