An award winning, accessible, stand alone self-catering property with luxury facilities, sleeping, dining and accommodating up to 16. With its own 13.5m swimming pool, hot tub, sauna, beautiful large private garden with play equipment, undercover games room and an entire 160 acre organic farm to explore. Once arrived you won’t want to leave.
The Cottage Beyond is only 10 minutes from Junction 26 on the M5, yet enjoys the unspoilt natural beauty and calm of rolling green rural countryside. We often describe our immediate area as living in the boondooks – a land hidden from the outside world. A secret, perfect world, yet not far from civilisation.
The house is designed for comfort and entertaining. Spacious, stylish, and well equipped. 6 bedrooms each with their own bath/shower room, one, fully accessible on the ground floor, and the others upstairs. All have comfortable 6’ zip and link beds allowing them to be super king-size or twin beds.
The entire ground floor, spa hall and gardens are fully accessible for wheelchair users and those with limited mobility. (For our comprehensive access statement please visit our website).
Everyone can sit comfortably together in the large, curvaceous living room with its multitude of windows, log fire and large TV, or enjoy the benefits of the Snug. There are shelves of DVDs and books to suit all ages, and chess, backgammon, and many other family board games. WiFi and Smart TVs are available as well as Bluetooth surround sound systems. In the Snug is a 'toy cupboard' packed full of toys for the younger members of your group.
Across the lawn, the Spa Hall beckons, with its shimmering indoor heated pool, hot tub and sauna, and stylish recliners, all for your exclusive use. Beautiful landscaped gardens offer space for sports and games, an enclosed trampoline, a roundabout, play tower, nest swing, tree seats and plenty of quiet corners to retreat to with a book. You can cook up a barbecue and dine outdoors, lounge on beanbags or chat on the swing seat. We supply summer games such as badminton, croquet and boules along with a football net for a kick around. A full-size table tennis table, table football and extra-large Connect 4 can be found in the covered games area.
The kitchen and snug are best placed to view the activity around the bird table. Nuthatches, greater spotted woodpeckers, long-tailed tits and pink-breasted bullfinches are regular visitors. Bird-spotters’ guides are provided. Guests are welcome to explore the farm. There are ponds and woodlands, complete with log swings and fairy doors, and fields with panoramic views to the Quantocks and Blackdown Hills. The Bathealton Stream bubbles across the farm to Watery Lane and Pooh Sticks Bridge, and on to join the River Tone (which flows through Taunton).
In the orchard beside the house reside a multitude of animals. Guests are welcome to interact with them and collect the eggs from the chickens. All our guests may request a farm tour as we love showing off our animals, and are happy to share our knowledge and point out the best spots to go badger watching or to check out the wildlife.
There are three signposted walks around our farm, a stampbox challenge, several geocaches hidden and a map of the local area is provided, so no excuse for staying in! If you wish to venture further afield, our picturesque corner of Somerset offers attractions for everyone, including pub-goers, garden-lovers, thrill-seekers and children.
