Whether you are travelling solo, or are planning a romantic getaway, The Gardener's Cottage is the pefect choice for up to two guests. There is one bedroom with en suite shower room. The open plan living room has views across lush countryside to the south, and to the Cheviot Hills to the west.
The private outside garden space wraps around two sides of the cottage with a stone patio and dining area connecting to a glass fronted deck. This is the perfect place to sit watching the sparkling stream running past or the fields and hills beyond.
The well appointed kitchen has dishwasher, fridge/freezer, washing machine, fan oven, induction hob, microwave, kettle and toaster. The botanically themed crockery reflects the history of the cottage, and the interior design is distinctly traditional country farmhouse in style.
As the cottage is all single storey, it may appeal to guests who prefer to avoid stairs. There are two steps to get into the property but once inside there are no level changes. We welcome enquiries from guests with accessibility questions, and we have a selection of accessibility equipment that can be provided in any of our cottages on request.
The raised flower bed in the enclosed garden is planted with a variety of shrubs, bulbs and flowers for year round interest as befits the cottage's name!
The facilities on the estate include a summer house, garden games, electric car charging point and picturesque locations to enjoy the views or listen to birdsong. You might even be lucky enough to see otters in the stream of deer grazing in the grounds. There is a secure cycle store room for those who wish to bring their own cycle. Or why not hire an electric bike to be brought to you? It is a fun way to explore the National Park from the lane that runs past the gate.
There is a shop, petrol station, antique centre, adventure playground, pub and café within easy walking distance in the village. There is also easy road access to the market town of Alnwick with its world-famous castle, gardens, Lillidorei, Barter Books, independent shops, galleries and eateries. Beaches, Holy Island, golf courses, castles and steam railway are also easily reached by a short drive from the cottages.
On the edge of the Northumberland National Park and Dark Skies, the views of open countryside are simply breathtaking. Whether you decide to explore the region, or relax in the cottage and grounds, there is always something to see or do, whatever the weather.
