About & Contact

Superb family holiday cottage

Originally a barn and corn store built in the 18th Century, the Haybarn has beamed ceilings, a wealth of original features and stunning views! A new, deluxe kitchen with granite worktops has integrated appliances and a full range of cooking and dining ware. There’s a lovely, comfy lounge with newly installed woodburning stove (bio mass) and upstairs a landing provides access to a modern, deluxe bathroom (with bath/over-bath shower, WC and heated towel rail) and a spectacular king-size double bedroom. A separate, second bedroom has twin beds (which can be made into a king-size double by arrangement). This cottage easily accommodates two couples but the layout (second bedroom leading off the master bedroom) means that it’s particularly suitable for families, especially those with small children. The cottage also has a folding single bed.

On arrival you’ll find flowers, locally made scones, home-made jam, tea, coffee, sugar and a jug of milk, toiletries, cling film, silver foil, kitchen & loo paper. Breakfast boxes are available on request, along with other local produce.

We provide premium quality bed linen, robes plus hand, bath and kitchen towels. Guests with babies are requested to bring their own cot linen.

'Fantastic holiday! Amazing cottage in an amazing location. Grown ups truly relaxed and kids had lots of fun. Enjoyed cycling from the house to Wetton Mill & café and the Manifold Inn (great food). Thanks for making us so welcome, and for the Easter treats! We’ll definitely come again'.

Reviews for Haybarn at Swainsley Farm

Meet the owner

Liz or Chris Snook

Working overseas and looking for a home in the UK, we fell in love with Swainsley Farm one day in November 1979. The sun was shining brightly, there was a little snow on the ground and we were amazed by the beauty of the Manifold Valley - everything was so incredibly peaceful and pristine! It’s the only home we have ever had and it’s been a wonderful place to bring up three daughters. 18th C. farm buildings were not viable in terms of modern agriculture and holiday cottages seemed the best way of preserving them. We’ve been members of Premier Cottages almost from its inception and we’ve tried to provide what we would want: quiet, peaceful and luxurious accommodation in surroundings where it’s easy to relax and unwind. The Peak District offers a huge range of activities … we’d love to welcome you to our spectacular home! Chris & Liz.
