Romantic cottage for couples with stunning views

Minnie’s Cottage is a special and romantic cottage for couples with stunning views across Wensleydale to the flat-topped hill of Addleborough and the Roman Road above Bainbridge. There is a cosy and quaint living room with a fabulous original inglenook fireplace, king-size bedroom, separate dressing room and a private walled garden.

Minnie’s is deservedly a Grade II listed cottage, built in 1834 and still has many of its original features. These include the beamed ceilings, original plank doors and snecks (the local name for door latches), deep set windows and stone shelves. It is in a lovely location next to the church in the centre of Askrigg, hidden away yet only a couple of minutes’ walk to the centre of the village and the shops, pubs, coffee shops and restaurants. Askrigg is one of those villages where you truly can park the car and throw away the keys for a few days should you so wish. You have all that the Yorkshire Dales National Park has to offer on your doorstep or a short drive away.

Minnie’s Cottage is quaint and quirky and has its own very special atmosphere; this is a cottage that definitely captures the hearts of the people who stay here.

The living room is warm and welcoming with the beamed ceiling festooned with horse brasses, the wonderful stone inglenook fireplace and comfortable hand-made sofa and armchair. There is a cosy dining corner but you can also enjoy up to date facilities with WiFi throughout the cottage and Sky TV.

The split level kitchen is very well equipped and hand-made to fit around the quirky walls and old stone cheese shelves. The walled garden at the back of the cottage is private and there is a utility room up a few steps into what is known as 'The Stick Hut', which is also a great storage space for your outdoor gear.

The shower room with hand-made tiles is also on the ground floor. Upstairs there is a good size dressing room and a romantic bedroom with antique furniture and a king-size iron and brass bed from which you can enjoy uninterrupted views across Wensleydale.

Multi-fuel stove in the living room, full central heating throughout the cottage, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine, tumble drier, fridge, freezer, electric fan oven, ceramic hob, toaster, cafetiere, widescreen TV, Sky+ TV (original bundle), wireless broadband internet, DVD player, radio/CD player, tourist information, maps, books, games, shoe cleaning kit, hairdrier, electric blanket, iron and ironing board, torch, bed linen, towels and tea towels provided, shower room with toilet, wash hand basin, electric shower, and shaver point, private walled garden with furniture, afternoon tea hamper and fresh milk for your arrival. On street parking is nearby, but not directly outside the cottage. Coal, sticks, firelighters, and matches are provided so that you have everything that you need to use the stove should you so wish. Everything is included in the rental and there are no hidden charges.

Sorry no pets or smokers.

Reviews for Minnie's Cottage at Askrigg Cottage Holidays

Meet the owner

Ken & Sue Williamson

We would like to welcome you to Askrigg Cottage Holidays and our beautiful self-catering holiday cottages in the glorious Yorkshire Dales National Park. We began our love affair with the Yorkshire Dales with our first holiday here in 1987 and bought a second home in Askrigg in 1995 (Minnie's Cottage). We moved here to live in 2000 and our family followed us shortly after, so we now have 3 generations living and working in Askrigg. Our ethos is to remain hands-on and family run and our gorgeous cottages are designed and equipped to the standards that we would want to find. We take pride in our cottages and providing you with the best holiday that we can. We think that we have a two very special and unique holiday cottages in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales National Park, and we feel very privileged to be able to live and work in this area, and to be able to share them with our guests.
