The three properties are situated in a small hamlet almost equidistant from the cathedral city of Hereford and book lovers town of Hay on Wye provide 12 double bedrooms and 12 bathrooms and sleep 24 in beds (plus 5 infants in cots). One bedroom in Garden Cottage is on the ground floor and The Cider Mill is all on one level and ideal for those with mobility issues. The hamlet of Monnington on Wye offers undisturbed tranquillity and beauty and yet is connected to many activities, pubs and cafes and places to visit all within 20 minutes drive. There is a superb farm shop at the top of the lane only 1.8 miles.
The working kitchen in Monnington House is spacious and is geared up for catering and numbers of 24. Plenty of cooking appliances (2 electric ovens, a hob and 4 door aga), 2 dishwashers and 3 fridge freezers plus generous amounts of pots, pans, glasses and crockery make entertaining easy and fun. The working island is generous in size and a sociable place to chop, chat and prepare food for large numbers. The farm shop is only 1.8 miles from the house and open 7 days a week. Many of our guests visit Oakchurch twice a day for supplies! The dining area in the main house seats 24 at one long table and adjoins the kitchen area. Everyone is included: this space is convenient and friendly.
The outside dining area seats 24 is located on the east side of the house and accessed from the French doors of the working kitchen. Again,this is easy to use, handy and popular for taking breakfast and lunch in the sunshine. A large south facing terrace overlooks the large lawn and has outdoor soft seating for guests to enjoy whilst having a drink, reading a book, playing games and watching the sun set. Monnington House has 3 reception rooms - a comfortable snug with sofa, woodburner and tv, a TV room with 3 sofas and woodburner and also an elegant drawing room with 2 sofas and woodburner and card table for puzzles and games. Monnington House has 6 spacious bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
Garden Cottage adjoins Monnington House and has its own kitchen which is basically equipped, a pretty sitting room with French doors onto its own terrace and garden. 3 double bedrooms and 3 bathrooms including one ground floor bedroom.
The Cider Mill Iocated across the paddock and a one minute walk from the main house. It is located all on one level. It has a very bright and spacious kitchen/sitting room with lovely views over the beautiful enclosed garden. There are 3 ensuite bedrooms.

The properties are full of books, plants, textiles and objects handpicked by the owner over the last 15 years.
There is wonderful walking straight from the door to suit all abilities and ages. Monnington on Wye is located on the Bredwardine to Byford Section of the Wye Valley Walk and also on the E1 part of the Wye Walker. Across the river guests love the Moccas Hill Wood National Nature Reserve where there is a large choice of walks and wonderful trees to admire. For those who like to get their heart racing a walk to Arthurs Stone from the house is a challenge and takes about 2 hours or drive to Hay on Wye and march up Hay Bluff.
During the summer months the River Wye comes into its own. Guests love fishing and can obtain passes from either Bulmers Angling Club or the Fishing Passport. Large group bookings often enjoy a full or half day canoeing or kayaking on the Wye which can include a suitable stop at a pub on the riverbank for lunch. Wild swimming is increasingly popular. We can put you in touch with an expert. There are 5 golf courses within reach of the house including Kington which is the highest golf course in England and has fabulous views. Hereford Raceway is close to the house and offers go-karting which the whole family can enjoy. Hereford Squash Tennis and Racket club welcomes visitors. Many guests play tennis and padel. A visit to the Small Rare Breeds Farm at Kington is loved by the young and old.
A visit to the market towns of Hay on Wye is loved by book lovers. For those who love a cathedral the Mappa Mundi in Hereford Cathedral is a must. There are still many independent shops in these towns and great galleries and cafes to visit. For garden lovers, there are plenty to visit including the National Trust Weir Gardens on the Wye only 4 miles away. It has a natural play area for children and spectacular views over the river. There are also plenty of interesting gardens to visit in the National Garden Scheme.

Geographically Monnington on Wye is located in Central England and is easily reached by our guests from the Midlands, Bristol, Wales, West Country, Ireland, Scotland and Home Counties.
