A beautiful period farmhouse and two cottages offering large groups a heavenly and peaceful location with walking from the door and within 10 minutes’ walk from the River Wye. The three properties when combined offer 12 double bedrooms and 12 bathrooms and sleep 24 in beds (plus 5 infants in cots). One bedroom in Garden Cottage is on the ground floor and The Cider Mill is all on one level and is great for those with mobility issues. In the main house the working kitchen is geared up for catering and numbers of 24. Plenty of cooking appliances (2 electric ovens, a hob and 4 door aga), 2 dishwashers and 3 fridge freezers plus generous amounts of pots, pans, glasses and crockery make entertaining easy and fun. The working island is generous in size and a sociable place to chop, chat and prepare food for large numbers. The farmshop is only 1.8 miles from the house and open 7 days a week. Many of our guests visit Oakchurch twice a day for supplies. The dining area in the main house seats 24 at one long table and adjoins the kitchen area. Everyone is included and this space is convenient and friendly. The outside dining area seats 24 is located on the east side of the house and accessed from the French doors of the working kitchen. Again, this is easy to access and handy and popular for taking breakfast and lunch in the sunshine. Garden Cottage adjoins the main house and has 3 double bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. There is a bedroom on the ground floor suitable for those with mobility issues. A pretty sitting room overlooks small orchard and playing field beyond. There is a small terrace for quiet escapes and a kitchen which is equipped for quick and easy meals. It has its own garden area. The Cider Mill is located across the paddock and a one minute walk. Please look at the sketch map. It is a stone-built bungalow on one level save for a small step up into the porch and one step down from the French doors onto the terrace. It has 3 double ensuite bedrooms and a lovely light kitchen, dining/sitting room. The Cider Mill has a very pretty and large enclosed garden which delights our guests. On the south side of the main house there is a large paved terrace with outdoor sofas and chairs. A lovely spot where guests can gather and enjoy a sundowner at the end of the day. The garden and grounds and generous and amount to about 2 acres of lawns, borders and small orchard. There is also a huge playing field with 2 football goals. Guests enjoy ball games throughout the year. In the outbuildings there is a games room with pool table and a rustic table tennis room. Guests gather at Monnington House and Cottages because of our generous accommodation of 12 double bedrooms and 12 bathrooms. This matched accommodation is difficult to find. Monnington on Wye is located in the middle of England and accessible for those getting together from all over England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland. There is fantastic walking from the door to suit all abilities. Dogs are welcome by prior arrangement. Please ask to see dog rules. Canoeing at nearby Byecross and go karting at Weobley are very popular and both activities are run by lovely families. Visits to Hay on Wye and Presteigne both of which have an abundance of independent shops, cafes, galleries, antiques shops and events. The Mappa Mundi in Hereford is always enjoyed. We have a great local caterer who is authorised to cook at Monnington House. She has great reviews and can make your stay even better. Memories are made here.

I manage and run Monnington House, Garden Cottage and The Cider Mill jointly with my husband. My husband was brought up in the house. We have been offering holiday accommodation since 2013. I used to run a National Lettings Department throughout London and the South West. I have 2 children who are now grown up and live in London but do visit regularly. When I am not busy with the houses, I love to cook particularly when using fruit and vegetables from my garden which I have grown. I breed my own dogs and currently have 2 black labradors being Truffle and her daughter Plum. I love walking them every day and enjoy yoga. I love ceramics and textiles which hopefully you will spot in the houses.
