Nestled in the quintessentially hamlet of Monnington on Wye, surrounded by acres of cider orchards and minutes from the River Wye is The Cider Mill. Overflowing with nature at its doorstep, this award winning cottage on one level sits in the most beautiful countryside in The Marches. Its location is almost equidistant from Hereford and Hay on Wye with walking from the door, canoeing nearby and market towns to explore. Great farm shop 1.8miles. Pub and cafe within an hours beautiful walk. The Cider Mill is a detached bungalow situated down a pretty drive lined with pear trees surrounded by a large, very beautiful and private enclosed garden. It sleeps 6 comfortably in 3 ensuite bedrooms and an infant in a travel cot. There is room for the dog too by prior arrangement - dog rules apply. The bungalow is a stone and brick building on one level and very accessible. There is only a small step up into the timber framed porch which doubles up as a boot room for wellies and coats. It is well suited for those with mobility issues. A timber framed building houses the laundry room with washer, dryer and overflow fridge. The garden is exceptional and is lovely and mature. Bursting with bulbs, plants, blossom, trees and is full of birdsong throughout the year. A large south facing terrace supplied with outdoor sofas and chairs and a dining table for 6. In the summer months a barbecue and parasol are supplied. The kitchen/dining/sitting room are combined in one large spacious room. It has a cathedral ceiling and big oak trusses. This gives a great sense of space, warmth and openness. The kitchen is fully equipped for a self catering cottage and comes with oven, dishwasher, fridge/freezer and plenty of individually sourced crockery, glasses and cutlery. The elegant dining table from India seats 6 and overlooks the pretty garden. 2 large leather sofas surround the faux woodburner. A lovely space to watch TV or the wildlife in the garden, read and play games. There are 3 ensuite bedrooms. All have Hypnos super king zip and link beds. Beds are supplied with luxurious 400 count white line and all 3 bathrooms are supplied with organic toiletries from Mydffai Trading who support social enterprise. The Cider Mill is situated on the Bredwardine to Byford Section of the Wye Valley Walk and. numerous other walking trails are available in the hamlet of Monnington on Wye. Guests love walking to the Red Lion at Bredwardine or Garden Cafe at Brobury House Gardens. These walks take a good hour. For the more adventurous a walk to Arthurs Stone or up Hay Bluff will get the heart racing and legs tired. Small family groups and couples visit who enjoy peace, privacy and tranquillity. Groups of fishermen are increasingly coming to stay. Buy a day ticket from Bulmers Angling Club or the Fishing Passport. Pass away an hour or two canoeing or kayaking The Wye or spend the whole day on the river stopping at a pub for lunch. The nearest place to hire a canoe is Byecross which is just a few miles away. I manage and run Monnington House, Garden Cottage and The Cider Mill jointly with my husband. My husband was brought up in the house. We have been offering holiday accommodation since 2013. I used to run a National Lettings Department throughout London and the South West. I have 2 children who are now grown up and live in London but do visit regularly. When I am not busy with the houses, I love to cook particularly when using fruit and vegetables from my garden which I have grown. I breed my own dogs and currently have 2 black labradors being Truffle and her daughter Plum. I love walking them every day and enjoy yoga. I love ceramics and textiles which hopefully you will spot in the houses.
