Rustic country luxury at the foot of the fells

Three luxurious self contained holiday cottages sitting within a large converted Victorian barn at the foot of the Howgill Fell's in Cumbria.

Each property showcases its own original features and provides a cosy and laid back space with a homely feel. Renovated to the highest standards and the exceptional internal styling by owner Carly has been inspired by nature's textures and colours to offer a relaxed, spacious and luxurious feel throughout.

The Haystore and Byre both sleep 4 but an interconnecting door can be opened allowing a group of up to 8 guests to stay together. The Carthouse sleeps 6, making it perfect for larger families or groups of friends. The whole property sleeps 14 guests enabling large groups to stay in the same location with the convenience of their own private areas.

There are beautiful walks from the door whether that be a short stroll to the nearby Paradise Tarm or a full days walking adventure in the surrounding hills. Similarly, the quiet lanes and nearby bridleways offer miles of route options for cyclists too.

The local village of Ravenstonedale has 3 great pubs and is about 20 mins walk or 4-5 minutes in the car. The nearby town of Kirkby Stephen is just a short drive and we are also within easy reach of the Lake District and wider Yorkshire Dales.

You'll find everything inside that you need for a truly relaxing holiday including a very well equipped kitchen, local books and maps and beautiful smelling ’Bath House’ toiletries. It's our aim for everything to be immaculate for our guests so you can settle in straight away and have a holiday that feels special.

Come and stay and you will find beautiful views, local wildlife (including, almost certainly, our red squirrels), and peaceful solitude. A truly special place for families, couples and friends to share.

Meet the owner

Carly Caveney & Richard Duckworth

Carly and Richard - A story of adventure, a love of property and the outdoors. As avid travellers to the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales, a seed was sown many years ago about running an accommodation business in rural Northern England. We purchased The Green in 2020 after falling in love with the barn that had been painstakingly converted with the support of a local architect and craftsmen several years before. Carly has always had a passion for renovating houses and interior design and over the years she has worked on many renovation projects. But she wanted The Green to be different and has created a place in which guests can immerse themselves and relax in the cosy, nature inspired interiors. Richard has a passion for the hills and mountains and he gained his Mountain Leader qualification in 2019 which seemed to go hand in hand with our move to Cumbria. There is nothing he likes more than taking groups out for memorable days in the hills and is able to offer a private guiding service to guests .
