About & Contact

Cosy barn retreat with cinematic evenings

The Byre is a luxurious rustic barn conversion, offering the perfect retreat for four in the beautiful Cumbrian countryside.

Impeccably presented and effortlessly stylish, The Byre is a warm and welcoming escape for couples, families, small groups of friends and dog owners alike. Designed with an upside-down layout to make the most of the far-reaching views, the first floor features a spacious open-plan kitchen, dining and living area with vaulted ceiling and cosy mezzanine above.

The generous bespoke dining table seats 8 comfortably, while large sociable sofas gather around the log burner - perfect for relaxed evenings together. The space easily converts into a private cinema experience, complete with a 100" screen and 4K projector for memorable movie nights.

Downstairs, The Byre sleeps four across two beautifully appointed bedrooms, each with its own luxurious en suite bathroom featuring a spa bath and Bath House toiletries. All bedrooms at The Green can be arranged as either super king or twin beds for complete flexibility.

Outside, enjoy the private elevated balcony, enclosed patio area, rural tranquillity and red squirrels in the large shared garden. Walks and bike rides begin straight from the door, with family friendly activities close by.

The well-equipped kitchen makes self-catering a pleasure, and thoughtful extras include underfloor heating, bathrobes, a stargazing kit, 55" Smart TV on the mezzanine, JBL Bluetooth speaker, games, books, maps and a utility area with washer and dryer. Secure bike storage and a comprehensive property App ensure a smooth and comfortable stay.

Dogs are very welcome and thoughtfully catered for with treats, basket, towel, shampoo, outdoor tap and dedicated waste bin.

The charming village of Ravenstonedale is just a 5-minute drive or 20–25 minute walk and offers two award-winning, dog-friendly pubs - The Black Swan and The King’s Head. The market town of Kirkby Stephen is a short drive away, and both the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales are within easy reach, though many guests find there is more than enough to explore right on the doorstep.

Sustainability is at the heart of The Green Cumbria. Heating and hot water are powered by on-site ground source heat pumps, solar panels and battery storage. A private borehole supplies water, and we prioritise eco cleaning products, sustainable toiletries and paper goods, responsibly sourced firewood, recycling, and locally/sustainably sourced produce in our welcome pack.

For larger gatherings, The Byre can be linked via an interconnecting door with The Haystore, allowing up to 8 guests to stay together while still enjoying generous space. The Adjoining Carthouse property can also be booked bringing our total capacity to 14.
